Dreamers and Deportations

November 29 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

The Hart Leadership Program will convene a public conversation about “Dreamers,” focusing on the experiences and leadership that young undocumented men and women have generated across political, generational, and cultural divides. We will host Maggie Loredo, founder of Otros Dreams en Accion, an organization that helps those who have been deported to Mexico get familiarized with their new home.

Maggie Loredo immigrated to the United States from Mexico at age three. Maggie finished high school in Whitfield County, GA in May 2008, but was unable to enroll in college in the United States. She returned to her country of birth at age 18.

Axel Herrera, Dreamer and founder of the Duke chapter of Define American, will join Maggie onstage. Define American is a national organization that looks to humanize the conversation around immigrants, citizenship, and identity.
