Make a Difference Day
Since 1992, the Points of Light Foundation has sponsored Make A Difference Day in order to inspire hundreds of thousands of volunteers to give back in their local communities. It is held annually on the fourth Saturday in October. In 2019, Duke students, employees and family members volunteered at Book Harvest and Burch Avenue Neighborhood Park. Stay tuned for information about the 2020 project(s)!
Project Share is coordinated in partnership with the Triangle Nonprofit and Volunteer Leadership Center and the Durham Department of Social Services. Through this program, members of the Duke community provide gifts to Durham individuals and families in need during the holiday season. The Duke community pledges to provide gifts for at least 300 adults and children in Durham every year. To support Project Share, you can make an online gift or a flex donation. Stay tuned for more information about gift donations for 2020.
MLK Million Meals
Each year on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Duke collaborates with local partners to package over 100,000 meals for the Triangle. Food packed during the event is distributed by the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle.
