The Learning…To Make a Difference Web site hopes to equip and inspire you to translate academic inquiry into service for the greater good or to address the difficult societal issues of our time. This site provides a database of academic opportunities to engage with the real world. From tutoring in a neighborhood school to conducting biological experiments in a rainforest to gathering oral histories about the segregated South, each student’s experience is different, reflecting your own unique backgrounds, interests, training, and commitments.

This site is a starting point, the foundation of a larger civic engagement presence at Duke. Over the coming months, you’ll find a wider range of opportunities added to the database, new profiles of what your friends and classmates are doing, new course offerings, and new programs. The site also will grow as we learn about what you are doing.
